French Polynesia, Tahiti & Moorea (Video at the bottom page)

Tahiti

If someone would ask you "if you had unlimited budget, what would be your dream destination?" I believe many people would reply Tahiti. It might just be The Most Beautiful Destination in people's mind. We had the incredible chance to go there for our honeymoon.

When landing in Tahiti's airport and you get out of the plane, before even giving your passeport to the customs, you are welcome a band playing traditional music with Ukulélé and colorful traditional clothes made of leaves. At that moment, you enter a very special atmosphere which takes you away.

Tahiti is the largest island of French Polynesia, located in the indian ocean. It is part of the society islands. The beautiful landscapes are made of 2 old volcanos, beautiful beaches, jungle... You can find some incredible black sand beaches just like in Iceland and Hawaii.

To get moving in Tahiti, the best solution is to rent a car and get around. There are plenty of car rental companies at the airport. Bargain with them one by one and one of them will make you a better offer. The whole circle around the island is 190km. It is possible to make it in 1 very rush day (if you have no other choice like us), however I would advise you to do it in 2 days minimum.

Arahurahu Marae

To start with the cultural side of things, and for convenience, we started our journey with one of the most famous Marae in tahiti: Arahurahu. This temple made of stones was used to celebrate the powers of the Tiki statue. There used to be some religious rituals, weddings and military victories celebrations.

Point Venus

This peninsula located on the north coast of Tahiti hosts a beautiful lighthouse and a whale sculpture. This lighthouse is the last one standing in the whole Tahiti. Locals and tourists spend family time there on the beach.

Papeete

Capital city of French Polynesia, this modern city is like every other cities located on the coastline. This is the economic hub of Tahiti, where the huge ships arrive to deliver goods. I love the paintings you can find all over Polynesia, mostly representing marine life.

Teahupo'o

Tahiti hosts the Billabong Pro Teahupo'o which is part of the ASP Surf World Tour. The resilient wave there is said to be among the most dangerous waves to surf in the world.

Intercontinental Tahiti Resort Dance & Dinner

I strongly advise you to enjoy an evening at the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort. I was very afraid of having to pay a huge amount to eat at this kind of hotel. In the end, I can tell you that the experience, the show as well as the food make this evening worth every penny !

( 11000 F = 90 euros / person)

A really nice occasion to embrace Polynesian culture with some of the best artists in the whole Polynesia.

Moorea

How to go? How long? How much?

The sister island of Tahiti is a 30-45 minutes boat ride from Papeete ( 2320 F = 19 euros).

Here are the 2 companies operating the cross:

How to move in Moorea?

In order to move freely around the island (60km), you have several choices:

1. A 2 wheeler (our pick)

2. A car

3. A buggy

4. An ATV

The Belvedere

This is the highest lookout in Moorea. From there, if the weather allows, this an incredible view over the two bays which are Opunohu and Cook's Bay. The best time to enjoy that beautiful spot is late afternoon around 4pm so that the sunlight goes through the mountain.

Cook's Bay

Located in the eastern part of the Moorea, this bay is very picturesque. Cook's bay is wild, surrounded by jungle, pineapple plantations and clear blue water. A must stop for memorable photos.

Don't forget to bring your drone along !

Swim with sharks and rays (Snorkeling)

Here is the summary of our wonderful stay in Tahiti & Moorea in 4K, 100% shot with a gopro 7 black and a dji mavic pro.

Subscribe to the channel and hit the bell to receive the coming videos (Raiatea, Tahaa, Rurutu, Tikehau, Rangiroa, Fakarava and more).

I wish you all well
